Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG): A Huge Leap for Crime Fighting
Forensic Investigative Genetic Genealogy (FIGG) is a new and powerful tool for solving violent crimes including but not limited to, homicides, sexual assaults, along with identifying human remains from missing persons investigations.  Since the 2018 conviction of the Golden State killer (Joseph DeAngelo), more than 500 cases have been solved using FIGG.  While using DNA is not new to solving cases, advances in DNA technology and the use of genealogical databases, such as Genealogy.com have assisted in solving cases that were previously thought to be unsolvable.
